Hey, gang. I'm planning on getting winter tires this year (yeah, yeah, I know I'm a bit late). As I live in a condo, however, I don't have anywhere to store my all-seasons until things thaw out.
Do any of my fellow Opponauts know of any tire shops in the Chicago area (preferably in the western burbs) that will not only sell snow tires, but let me store my all-seasons at their shop until the spring? Thanks in advance for the help!

IMO, don't get Snow tyres if you live in the Chicagoland area. The Illinois Department of Transportation, local, and county road departments are usually on top of snow removal and our Winters are usually pretty pathetic anyway (it didn't snow until after the New Year) so your snow treads will see so much dry ground action and really only be useful a couple times a year.

Sadly, it's not IDOT that's the problem. The condo association's plowing service doesn't do a very good job of plowing the road connecting all of the buildings. In addition, the city I live in doesn't do a very good job of plowing of the main road I live on, which resulted in very slippery conditions this week and slides and spin-outs that I witnessed first-hand.

If that's the case, then perhaps snows will be a good choice for you. Discount Tire did a good job on my smart (but then again, they're the only shop that will work on a smart). Don't know of any shops that sell/store, though. :(

If I lived in a house / townhome instead of a condo, I could store in the garage or basement. Sadly, I have no place safe to keep tires year-round.

I have no idea if any shops around here will let you store tires there. I was happy with the service here http://www.yelp.com/biz/villa-park…
They mounted a set of tires for my Malibu this summer, that I had ordered from Tire Rack.

You're pretty much going to have to get a mini storage unit rental or put tires in a closet. Stuff like this is why I don't apartment or condo, among a huge litany of other things ;-)
